It’s all about the details. As we navigate life, we face billions of decisions about how to spend our time and if we are not vigilant, our days can devolve into monotonous, bland repetition.
I spend a lot of time thinking about how to squeeze out every possible minute of the day to pursue the meaningful, creative, intellectual, quirky, stimulating, unexpected, extraordinary details and moments that make life worth living.
This simple concept of everyday details inspired the launch of this space: The Dotted Jay.
Hello, my name is Pam. I make a living inside the Washington, D.C. beltway executing advocacy campaigns and fighting for legislative and public policy solutions that I believe in, like saving historic places. My endless curiosity and quest for diverse life experiences puts me on trains and planes to explore places and engage people. I battle perfectionism. And an addiction to popcorn. When I’m not exploring my creative side, you’ll find me obsessing over my sports teams, devouring books and articles, documenting my life in a bullet journal or scrapbook, enjoying fabulous meals, and devoting time each day to learn something new.
The Dotted Jay is a space that documents an eclectic mix of life experiences, research, and passions as I explore ways to maximize joy and purpose on a daily basis. Everything you’ll read here is made possible from adhering to this principle:
How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives (Annie Dillard)
If you love the way tiny details transform the ordinary into the exceptional, enjoy exploring new places to expand your horizons, believe that creativity inspires, agree that knowledge is power — then you’re in the right place.
